Why do I need two-factor authentication?

What is two-factor authentication?

Information security is currently an important criterion in using any app. There are a lot of harmful pieces of software and hackers that can crack even the most unique combination of characters.

Two-factor authentication is a user identification method for a service account through the requirement to enter authentication credentials, which protects the account from identity theft, hacker attacks and other ways to change, add or delete the user’s details.

Password authentication is the most common method first of all due to its only advantage – ease of use. The idea behind this protection method is that the user receives a list of passwords. Each password is valid only for one login session.

Why is this important

Hackers try to find the login and password in databases that have been leaked online.

One of the most common ways to hack an account is through a phishing site. The URL of phishing sites is almost the same as that of the original site, the difference being just one letter or character. For example, when you enter a URL in the address bar, you may come across a phishing site, or hackers may send you an email to trick you into entering you login and password on a fake website. This will not work if two-factor authentication is enabled: Only the original site can send a confirmation code.
